Karen Abboud is a full-time Assistant Professor and Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education (ACCE) in the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program at Clarkson College. Her teaching assignments include Introduction to Physical Therapy, Documentation for the Physical Therapist Assistant and selected labs in the Associate's PTA program. She also teaches Outcome Measures & Reporting for the Bachelor's PTA program. 

She earned her Bachelor's degree in General Studies from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2002 and later earned both her Associate’s degree in Physical Therapist Assistant in 2005 and Master of Science in Health Care Administration degree in 2012 from Clarkson College. She also completed training to become a Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT) in November 2010 and is a certified Clinical Instructor through the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). She began teaching at the College in fall 2009.

Ms. Abboud’s clinical background includes geriatric and lymphatic patient populations. She also maintains patient care responsibilities as a practicing PTA for various Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs) and some home health facilities in the Omaha area. She has discovered a new passion in her roles in both the academic and clinical setting as well as promoting the profession and representing PTAs state- and nation-wide.

Ms. Abboud is an active member of APTA where she is a member of the Education Section and also served on the American Physical Therapy Association Nebraska Chapter Executive Committee as the PTA Caucus Representative for 10 years (2010–19), and continues to assist the Membership and IT committees. Ms. Abboud was awarded APTA Recognition of Advanced Proficiency for the PTA in geriatrics and has earned the LANA certification for lymphedema.
